Dario Fo presents...

Francis the Holy Jester

Francis the Holy Jester is a one man show, a play which relies solely on the considerable skill of a highly experienced performer and the imagination of the audience. This is a show without props, without scenery and with the simplest of costume where the bond between the audience and the performer, and thus the material and subject is tangible, visceral. A whole range of characters from 13th Century Italy are brought to life before us: Popes and Cardinals, Dukes and Duchesses, soldiers on the battle field, traders in the marketplace and St Francis himself.

The play traces some events from the life of this most colourful and renowned of holy men, his desire to follow the word of God and to communicate this to the people for the good of mankind. It illustrates his commitment to his beliefs, his willingness to sacrifice his wellbeing and material comfort for the sake of his faith and his readiness to challenge hypocrisy wherever he sees it to expose the truth.  This is a play that truly addresses some fundamental questions about how we express our faith and commitment to Christian principles. It has the timelessness of a great story masterfully told and is full of relevance for our lives today.

‘Pirovano’s performance, and his ability, are astounding… I recommend it whole-heartedly and completely.’ Chris Hislop  ***** Fringe Review

Pin the Tale presents...

Catch/Ulov

Following the huge success of Ulov (2007) and Catch (2009) in Edinburgh, Pin the Tale now brings you these two plays, back to back, creating an evening of critically acclaimed, innovative and ground-breaking drama.

The two plays were researched and devised in Moscow. They explore the Russian mail order bride industry from two points of view: the Russian woman’s and the Western man’s. The plays are semi-verbatim and based on real life experiences of men and women engaged in the industry.

Catch and Ulov merge text, music and physical theatre to create a frenetic and highly energised theatrical event.

The Confetti Maker
directed by John Wright

Frank Wurzinger’s new solo show, The Confetti Maker, is a day in the life of a full-time confetti factory worker.   Full of optimism, he pursues his profession: making confetti -  cutting,  perforating, shredding -  all day, every day - but he has ambitions, dreams and fears far beyond the factory life – romance… love… family…

The Confetti Maker is a highly visual piece, which combines slapstick, puppetry, absurd storytelling, improvisation, and of course, lots of small bits of paper, which are expertly woven into a hilarious, yet poignant show.

Stewart Wright presents...

The Nothing Show

If Kafka and Chaplin had met and decided to work together they might well have written The Nothing Show. As such a fruitful meeting never took place, Stewart Wright and Craig Edwards have created it instead.

Always engaging and by turns hilarious, whimsical and shocking. The Nothing Show is a tour de force of contemporary clowning. Dedicated to the contemplation and celebration of everyday life, this show is for anyone who would prefer to stay in bed, thinks call centres are the devil’s work and finds the daily rush to beat the clock a complete turn-off.

With The Nothing Show Stewart Wright and Craig Edwards have created a vivid and rich world of possibilities through nothing more than the performer’s skill and the audience’s imagination. The clown – our hero – is on an adventure to escape the hamster wheel of routine daily life and discover a brave new world.
